Remember When

Today's post I thought I would talk about all of those good ole days when we didn't have a care in the world and we were really cute...But then I remembered I haven't gotten any of my cute photos scanned yet so I will default to my beautiful little girl. Isn't she adorable in her Gamecock gear? My wife would even have to agree. I figured I would upload some pictures of our recent trip to the Mountain House since I haven't finished with my Grandpa's family albums yet. If anyone wants to come and visit just let me know and we can make a trip of it.

This is the front of the house. James did a wonderful job and most of it by himself...
Here is the view from the back porch. Here is a picture of that back porch.

I will end the mountain pictures showing how my weekend went. Notice Savannah, Grandma, and Papa all working while I am sitting back watching the tube. How lucky was I...

So I thought I would end with the Mullet of the family (at least former family)
I could give a long and funny relationship blog that my sister (love you Leslie) would kill me over, but i think i will leave that for another day :) Doesn't she look like she is in love? I can see the twinkle in her eye.

I will leave today with this interesting tidbit of information:

On November 11th of 1675 Gottfried Leibniz employed Integral Calculus for the first time to determine the area under a curve. Why do you care is a good question... Without this extremely powerful mathematical tool many of the creature comforts we love today would be impossible; for instance the graphics on this computer screen or pictures or tv's or... So please encourage your children to learn and love Math and Sciences.

BTW, you may ask why did I choose Gottfried today? I figured he looked like my sister's ex-husband... mullet and all.

Jeff's Ultimatum

Today i thought i would show how much fun Jeff has by showing me up. We recently did a 4.2 mile obstacle course which i kicked Jeff's ass in (notice I was always providing positive motivation from the rear like a real LEADER). I am unable to give a direct link to the photos but here are some simple directions and you can view the pictures:

1. Click on Photos link in center

2. Click on here for the 2008 photos

3. Click on team folder 1-99

4. Finally click on team 8 (that's us) and view all photos.

If you cannot follow these directions you are either my parents or friends Amy and Ron which is understandable because I know who you voted for and that says it all...

Anyway, i thought i would share my favorite two news articles that i believe sum up why i vote the way i do, but with that being said below is a funny joke that i like to refer people to as well.

To be sure, these "tax cuts" contain some sleight of hand. More than $400 billion of the money over the next 10 years would take the form of refundable tax credits paid in cash to people who already pay no federal income tax. It would be more accurate to refer to these cash outlays as cuts in payroll tax or -- even more accurately -- as transfer payments. Regardless of what the credits are called, though, they would put more money in the pockets of some American families. That sounds great in these tough economic times. Who can be against a boost to spending power and consumption?

Enough talk about people who all make more money than we do and after tonight (probably more like another 2 months to account for all votes) we will know who won the election and that will be that for another 4 years.

On a lighter note i thought i would share a few photos from my recent trip to Asia and play a game called: Guess the American...

Till the next post

My Life

Steve has finally entered the 21st century and started a blog. Hopefully this will be kinda comical and show some insight into technology and science along with some sightseeing adventures of mine.
I will start by sharing a rather amusing video of my friend Kenneth (also known as Shannon's kin).

After that good laugh I thought I would share a rather comical picture of myself getting shit on...

And I thought the Lorikeets just scared Savannah while we were there. Boy, was I wrong. She was just smart enough to understand that if you allow them near you long enough they will eventually shit on your head.

Since I get so many questions asking me what it is that I do I thought I would try and explain. Ansoft (my old company) was recently acquired by Ansys which also creates simulation software. However, unlike the abstract software simulation developed by Ansoft which focusses on solving electrical engineering problems Ansys' simulation software focusses on more tangible components such as: cars, airplanes, fans, cell phone cases, and even the Olympic Speedo Swimsuit (see page 9 of link). So just interpret the mechanical world in terms of electromagnetics and you now understand what I do. Here is a neat brochure with some cool pictures.

So I will end my first blog with the following homework... View the wikipedia link to learn what it is.
